Rain Special Effects

Rain effects equipment can create a rainy environment... or provide continuity for scenes started in real rain that has stopped! The rain machine systems we use include traditional but versatile rain stands (monsoon and our regular styles) and an overhead crane rain bar, all of which can create rain effects from drizzle to a torrential downpour.

Stands have interchangeable rain heads, and we can hoist overhead rain bars above the action with a crane. Rain bar interchangeable heads include traditional static ‘birds mouths’ and spinning Akron rain heads. We use triple spinners and 2 inch spinning Akron rain heads, which with 4 bowsers on location supply enough water to create torrents of rain water running down a street!

We have handheld lances for over-the-camera close ups, handheld drip rigs, and fogging nozzles we use to add depth to a foggy, misty day where others may only use smoke. Our approach to creating rain special effects is hugely adaptable, as we've found the variety of rain effects called for is endless!
